Autumn Budget Watch Parties
As you may be aware, the Autumn Budget will be broadcast live from the House of Commons on Wednesday 30th October. The budget will be led by Rt Hon Rachel Reeves and will be the first budget under a labour government since winning the election in July 2024.
Autumn Budget live streamed in group boardrooms
The Autumn Budget will be live streamed cross-group in boardrooms at each of our office sites as a series of watch party (type) broadcasts. This will enable us to collaborate, share insights and promotes best practice with our peers.
What date and time will the budget take place?
The budget is due to air on Wednesday 30 October following the Prime Minister’s Questions 12:30pm and will likely last around an hour.
You are encouraged to bring your laptop with you for this session and to continue working as normal whilst the broadcast is being aired. This is of course unless you have a client call, for example. If you are working from home this day, then access to a live stream is available here. We will be officially watching our stream via ParliamentTV this year. Please note you will require a TV licence to watch live-stream any programmes.
There will be light refreshments provided, or you are more than welcome to bring your lunch with you.
What could happen in the Autumn Budget 2024
There is currently plenty of speculation on what to expect from the upcoming Autumn Budget.
Back in August, our colleague Ashley Stoller in the Private Client and Tax team published an article of shared insights into what has been strongly expected to be announced next week, including HM Treasury changes on taxation to non-domiciled individuals, as well as changes to capital gains tax and inheritance tax. *
*Please note: This article is based on strong speculation taken from readings from the recent policy documents available from the HM Treasury government website and is to be taken as a guide only until full and proper documents are published.
What else do we have planned?
At each budget turn, we plan an outreach campaign aimed at our clients and industry peers that includes a summary of our budget viewpoints, rate cards, newsletters, reactive commentary, web articles and social posts across our various channels.
We will be sharing this information in a round-up article for you to view and access in our post-budget Loop article, the following day.
In the lead up to ‘Budget Day’ we will also be sharing content via the company’s LinkedIn platform to encourage followers to come back to the company pages for a full Autumn Budget commentary, so please engage with the company LinkedIn account [https://www.linkedin.com/company/lb-group-2/] and join the conversation using hashtag #AutumnBudget. If you do have anything to share on your LinkedIn pages, we would suggest to login to Croner-i and access the Autumn Budget 2024 predictions document or access a copy of it here.
As a Group, we have active memberships of Croner-I therefore, you may refer to this document and if so, please do source this information.
