Death in service

Introducing a new staff benefit

It’s never something you want to think about, and it’s not always easy to talk about either, but we wanted you to know that we’ve put in some extra support should the worst happen to you while you’re working with us.

We’ve introduced a Death in Service scheme for all staff that will ensure your loved ones not only receive some financial help, but also a range of other counselling and support services to help them through what would be a very upsetting time. The provision of this benefit is tax free.

In the first instance, your beneficiaries will receive a tax free lump sum payment equal to your year’s salary (or as a member of our senior management team, your family will receive a lump sum amount of twice your year’s salary and as an Associate Director, your family will receive a lump sum amount of three times your year’s salary).

As well as that, we wanted you to be reassured that we’ll help look after your family in other ways too. So, our policy also offers them access not only to some emotional support and counselling, but also help with financial, practical and legal issues that may arise.

Through a range of channels, this advice, as well as support for other areas such as arranging the right care for elderly relatives or receiving some mental health assistance, is on hand through the new Health Assured package. It’s part of our wider focus on the wellbeing of all our staff.

We know it’s not a plan you want to be making, but we also know how important this support can be for your family in the most difficult of times.

Clare Wilson (HR) will be in touch shortly with some forms and further details, but in the meantime if you’d like any further information, or to ask any questions, please contact Clare directly.
