Welcome to the RIALTO Committee
In March this year, Affinia took an important step toward building a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. That step was the launch of the RIALTO Committee — a group of passionate colleagues working together to help embed our company values into everything we do, with a strong focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
RIALTO is here to help ensure that all voices are heard, that fairness is part of every decision, and that we actively support an inclusive culture where everyone can bring their full selves to work.
Our work also extends to important areas like mental health and emotional wellbeing. We’re committed to making sure our workplace is a safe and supportive space — which includes having trained Mental Health First Aiders available to offer a listening ear, guidance, and point you toward helpful resources whenever you need them.
Another key part of what we do alongside local office management is to help coordinate and guide how Affinia supports the charitable causes we care about — whether it’s continuing the work we’ve already started or exploring new opportunities to give back.
While RIALTO is still in its early days, we’re excited about what’s ahead. Here are just a couple of initiatives we’re working on:
- Digital Suggestion Box – A simple way for you to share your ideas or proposals with the committee at any time. (More details coming soon!)
- Pause for Applause – A chance to shine a light on colleagues who go above and beyond, and celebrate the people who make Affinia such a special place to work.
To help you get to know us better, your RIALTO representatives have shared a little about who we are and why we joined the committee — we hope you’ll take a moment to read our stories.
Together, we’re building something meaningful — and we’d love for you to be a part of it.
You can now also reach out to the committee via RIALTOCommittee@affinia.co.uk or alternatively you can reach out to an individual member at any time.

Why did you join the RIALTO committee? For me, this is more than just an initiative – it’s personal
Starting my career in Accountancy over 30 years ago as an “in the closet” gay 18 year old – life was tough!
Professionally, the people I looked up to and aspired to be like were all middle-aged, straight men. That was the “mould” of success at the time, and while they were excellent role models in many ways, there wasn’t anyone who reflected my own lived experience.
That absence shaped how I thought about my place in the professional world, and it highlighted just how important representation really is. I want colleagues, present and future, to be able to look around and see a broader cross-section of society—people of different backgrounds, orientations, and perspectives—all showing that there are many ways to succeed and thrive and contribute towards our collective teams and community.
By joining this committee, I hope to contribute to making sure our workplace is not just diverse on paper, but inclusive in practice, where everyone can find role models who inspire them to be their authentic selves.

Why did you join the RIALTO committee? There are two core values I hold most dear: respect and well-being. To me, respect means truly listening to others, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating everyone with dignity. I make it a priority to show respect by actively listening, fostering inclusivity, and recognising everyone’s contributions, regardless of their role or background. I firmly believe that everyone deserves equal treatment, no matter their race, gender, culture, religion, or personal background.
Unfortunately, workplace discrimination still persists—whether through biased hiring practices, unequal pay, exclusion from opportunities, or subtle microaggressions. These challenges underscore the importance of upholding these core values in every environment. Well-being is equally vital, as a healthy and supportive workplace allows individuals to thrive both personally and professionally. Yet, issues like workplace stress, burnout, and insufficient mental health support continue to impact many employees. When discrimination and poor well-being are left unaddressed, the office environment can quickly become a difficult place to work.
That’s why I decided to join the RIALTO Committee—to actively contribute to fostering respect and well-being in the workplace. I look forward to helping create a positive and inclusive environment here at Affinia.

Why did you join the RIALTO committee? I joined the RIALTO committee as I am a firm believer that having a voice to raise and discuss issues is not only vital for organisational growth, but also important on a decent human level. Why did you join the RIALTO committee? I have extensive personal experience supporting someone with neurodiversity, as well as close family members who live with mental health challenges. I’m passionate about raising awareness, breaking down stigma, and making these topics part of everyday conversation.
I also want to be a point of contact for colleagues who need support, whether they’re looking for guidance or simply someone to talk to about how they’re feeling and the challenges they’re facing. I want them to know they don’t have to suffer in silence.

Why did you join the RIALTO committee? As a working mum and ally to diverse communities, I joined the RIALTO committee to actively support positive change in the workplace. I am passionate about ensuring that underrepresented groups are always considered, and I believe strongly in the principle of ‘being the change.’ Rather than keeping my thoughts, concerns, or questions to myself, I wanted to step forward and contribute, doing everything I can to help drive meaningful change.
Martin Quinton

Why did you join the RIALTO committee? I wanted to join because I believe everyone should feel they belong at work. As someone who is gay and has ADHD, I know first-hand how much representation and understanding matter. I’m particularly keen to raise awareness around neurodiversity and I hope to use my perspective and experiences to support a more inclusive environment for colleagues.

Why did you join the RIALTO committee? I joined the RIALTO committee as the People representative, to help support its operations and contribute to shaping the agenda. Having previously worked on various diversity and inclusion initiatives in other organisations, this is very important to me. I’m committed to fostering a workplace where everyone feels welcome and included. It’s something I care about every day in my role, so it’s been great to hear everyone’s ideas and collaborate as part of the committee.
