To audit or not to audit? – our handy flowchart
To support your assessment of whether a client requires a statutory audit, we’ve developed a clear and practical flowchart – one for year ends beginning 5th April 2025 or earlier and a version for 6th April 2025 onwards. It walks you through key decision points, including whether the client is part of a regulated sector, meets size thresholds, or is part of a larger group. It also covers special cases such as dormant companies, shareholder requests, and audit exemption options like S479. Please ensure you review the flowchart early in the engagement process—missing an audit requirement can lead to complications post year-end.

Major client acquisition strengthens Audit portfolio
We’re proud to announce a significant new client win for the audit service line: a major international logistics company headquartered in the UK and operating extensively across the EU. Following multiple successful years completing the UK subsidiary audits within the group, the team in the Halstead office secured a combined audit engagement valued at almost £500,000.
This win marks a strategic milestone and highlights the strength of our proposition as a larger, more capable firm. It reflects the confidence that large, sophisticated businesses are placing in our people, our processes, and our approach to quality and client service. As we continue to grow, this engagement underscores our ability to compete – and succeed – at the top end of the market.
Client testimonials – elevating our Audit pitch materials
The audit team has been working on several initiatives to enhance our marketing and business development efforts. A key part of this is gathering client feedback and testimonials that we can feature in sector-specific pitch templates and on our website. These endorsements help showcase the value we deliver and build trust with prospective clients.
We’ve just received a fantastic testimonial from Cegos, a global leader in learning and development, thanks to Oli White’s client relationship. Louise Connors, Executive Finance and Operations Director for the UK, shared her experience:
“Working with Oliver and his team from Affinia for our financial audits has been an absolute pleasure. Their approach is not just sensible and pragmatic but also deeply attentive to detail. They took the time to understand our team, our business intricacies, and our processes thoroughly. This personalised approach allowed them to not only ensure compliance but also suggest meaningful improvements. Their dedication to excellence and genuine care for our organisation’s success make them invaluable partners in our financial strategy.
That’s all for this month. As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Richard Lane or Oliver White.
Have a great week everyone!
