IT Update: Enhanced Cyber Security Awareness

We are committed to enhancing our Cyber Security Threat protection against all types of attack. These can be very well disguised in several ways and using differing methods to gain access to IT services and customer data. 

Over the last twelve months we have been able to identify and block a couple of such attempts before they caused any issues to the business therefore, we need to remain vigilante. 

It is well known that Cyber Criminals are becoming increasingly inventive and clever in how the present themselves as legitimate organisation requesting login credentials etc, so we need to know what to look out for as a red flag.  

What are we doing to increase our Threat protection? 

Dark Web – It is often associated with criminal activities (e.g., illegal marketplaces, hacking forums, selling of illegally obtained corporate data).  

• We have recently introduced an enhanced Cyber Security solution to Monitor the Dark Web for any potential comprised information that may have been accessed. 
• We will be introducing mandatory cyber awareness training across the affinia estate six short courses will need to be completed they are only 3-5 minutes long but will need to be completed within a defined period. At the end of each course there will be a short quiz to ensure you know what to look for, once the training has been completed it will be recorded in the in the internal database. 
• There will also be some simulated phishing test rolled out which will further add to the enhanced awareness, these will simulate a usual type of Cyber Breach Attempt and if this is not spotted and the info request is provided, you will be directed to a further training module to highlight where you need to be more diligent. 

This will deliver a more robust Cyber Security Protection perimeter and will also provide the awareness training across all affinia staff to protect and educate to identify suspicious emails and phishing attempts before accessing a links etc. 

We want to ensure we not only protect our corporate systems and data, but we also provide the relevant education to all staff to protect them against this threat both at work and in their personal lives.
