Welcome to Rob Thomson!

Last week, we welcomed Rob Thomson as our new Co-Head of Tax, based in our Colchester office. 

Rob will be working alongside Paul Mustoe to expand our tax services, enhance client delivery, and support our strategic growth plans. He brings a wealth of commercial and technical tax expertise, with a proven track record of leading national service teams and advising fast-growing businesses. 

Below, Rob shares his previous work experience and a little about himself: 

“I have over 25 years of experience helping businesses and their owners manage their tax affairs. Over the years, I’ve worked with companies across a diverse range of industries—from haulage and freight forwarding to retail, construction, and even the occasional football club! 

I’ve supported businesses of all sizes, from entrepreneurial start-ups to UK entities of large multinational groups and private equity-backed firms. 

Prior to joining Affinia, I led the regional team of a national firm and established a national tax team focused on servicing entrepreneurial and SME businesses. 

I bring a broad mix of technical and interpersonal skills, having worked in both a local firm and one of the Big Four. I’m also a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA). 

Outside of work, I can usually be found enjoying long countryside walks with my wife and our dog, Neo.”
